SOMA Foundation's New Member Scholarship

The SOMA Foundation is proud to offer the New Member Scholarship to current osteopathic medical students who are members of National SOMA. The scholarship is available to students at all stages of their educational career (OMS I–IV). Up to one recipient will receive this $600 scholarship to use for their medical education. One previous recipient said the $600 scholarship helped them pursue their medical degree without worrying about financial burdens.

The SOMA Foundation is proud to offer the SOMA Scholar Award to current osteopathic medical students who are members of National SOMA. One SOMA member will receive a scholarship of $500 donated by the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA).

The SOMA Foundation is proud to offer the Transition to Residency Award to current osteopathic medical students who are members of National SOMA. The scholarship is available to 4th-year osteopathic medical students (OMS IV only) who matched this year. This $500 award recognizes a student who has shown exceptional drive, originality, or commitment in advancing healthcare, whether through patient care, advocacy, education, or community initiatives. Up to two recipients will be selected for this award.

Marvin H. and Kathleen G. Teget Leadership in Specialty Medicine Scholarship

The SOMA Foundation is proud to offer the Leadership in Specialty Medicine Award to current osteopathic medical students who are members of National SOMA. The scholarship is available to students at all stages of their educational career
(OMS I–IV). Up to two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate leadership in a non-primary care specialty. All applicants must hold an active SOMA membership.

The SOMA Foundation is proud to offer the Innovative Leadership in Osteopathic Medicine Award to current osteopathic medical students who are members of SOMA. The scholarship is available to students at all stages of their educational career (OMS I–IV). This $1,000.00 scholarship is awarded to a student who has taken steps to improve the healthcare field through innovative and creative methods that benefit not only patients but physicians as well. Up to four recipients will be selected for this award.

The Women in Medicine Scholarship awards a $1,000 scholarship to a student who demonstrates leadership potential and reflects the growing diversity of the healthcare workforce while promoting equality and advancement within the profession. SOMA Foundation’s International Medical Outreach Scholarship

Up to five (5) students will be selected for the scholarship and will receive up to $1,000 to cover expenses associated with a Power of a Nickel (PON) trip. PON global health trips are catered to providing healthcare and health education for underserved and medically needy persons. This discount is intended for those conducting research or scholarly work related to the medical trip. A research article, poster presentation, article for publication or presentation at an accredited venue, or a publishable case study is required. The initial 50% of the scholarship ($500) will be awarded prior to the trip, and the remaining 50% will be awarded after the research component is submitted, within 6 months of the trip's completion.

The SOMA Foundation is proud to offer the UWorld Board Prep to current osteopathic medical students who are members of the National SOMA. The scholarship is available to all osteopathic medical students (OMS I-III) who are studying for COMLEX Levels 1 and 2. Up to two recipients will be selected for a 180-day COMLEX QBank (one for Level 1, one for Level 2).
